Finding Paragraph #1

We have all seen and heard about the horrifying issue of bullying. This causes many to question, why do people bully? Also, which type of bullying effects people the most? People bully for all different reasons, including: attention, it makes them feel higher, they want something that someone else has, their mind is not in the correct state, and so many more reasons. (Rampur) All types of bullying have been proven to lower self-esteem, but verbal abuse, or as the author calls it, "social manipulation" has led to kids feeling helpless and not having control over how they feel. Dr. Stephen Joseph did a study and found that name-calling is the worst form of bullying. The article states, "Name-calling is more devastating for children's self-confidence than physical bullying, a study suggests."("Name-callling 'worst form of bullying'") Name-calling is a form of verbal abuse involved with bullying, so verbal bullying is the worst and impacts people the most. "Words can cause pain. Teasing becomes bullying when it is repetitive or when there is a conscious intent to hurt another child. It can be verbal." (Teasing and Bullying: No Laughing Matter) "Courage is fire, and bullying is smoke." -Benjamin Disraeli.
